Let’s Get Together – #LGTTechCollect
Brampton, Ontario, October 6, 2023 – October is “TechTober” month at Brampton Library.
During the in-person event at Gore Meadows Branch Library (10150 The Gore Rd, Brampton, ON L6P 0A6) on October 21 2023, from 10 am to 2 pm, Let’s Get together in partnership with the Brampton Library and with the support of COM2 Recycling and Let’s Get Together’s Tech4All Youth, will be collecting unwanted computers, mobile devices, computer peripherals, as well as broken and unwanted electronics (e-waste), metal waste, batteries and ink toners and cartridges. All materials gathered will be recycled safely while computers and mobile devices will be assessed and refurbished for distribution back to the community to give to those in need at no cost.
Help set a new community record for total e-waste collected!
The highest total weight of e-waste collected through a one-day event with Brampton Library is 3158 lbs, set during the TechCollect Event at Loafers Lake Lane Branch last fall. The hope is to break this record and collect 5000 lbs. If your school, business or organization would like to get more involved to help us break this record, please contact us at info@letsgettogether.ca.
Hands-on tech-related activities
The event will also offer three drop-in, hands-on activities:
Computer Anatomy - an opportunity for people to explore the inside of a computer, learn about the internal parts, how they work together and how to best care and maintain the device to extend its lifespan.
DYI Keyboard Cleaning Gel (aka “slime) - an all-ages “slime” making station which is a great cleaning material to remove crumbs and dust from keyboards.
Reduce Emails, Reduce CO2 Emission - Did you know that each email we send or receive releases a bit more CO2 in the atmosphere? Bring your device and find out how you can help reduce CO2 emission in just a few minutes!
TechCollect + Repair Café
The excitement continues the following week on Saturday, October 28th at the Brampton Library’s TechTober “Repair Café” hosted at Four Corners Branch Library from 1pm - 4pm. It’s another opportunity to bring your unwanted electronics for repair or recycling. Let’s Get Together will be onsite to collect unwanted computers, mobile devices, computer peripherals, as well as broken and unwanted electronics (w-waste), metal waste, batteries and ink toners and cartridges.
